Happy to share the following review by new music magazine ‘I Care If You Listen’ writer, Don Clark, of my recent solo recital at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City. The recital was the Closing Concert to my week-long residency at the UMKC Composition Workshop, directed by composer Mara Gibson.
Special recognition must go to composers Mara Gibson, Jim Mobberley and Matthew Burtner for writing me such wonderful pieces! Additionally, to composers Paul Rudy, Shulamit Ran and Kee Yong Chong for helping me to bring your music to life. To Tigran Mansurian and Elliott Carter I say, “Thank you,” for writing such evocative music for the viola. Lastly, I’m ecstatic to have shared the stage with both Paul Rudy, improvisor, and Jan Faidley, soprano saxophone. Looking forward to collaborating soon with all of you again!
