Four New Viola Pieces by Chicago Composers.

The sounds of “Wet-Ink” flows freely in Chicago!
Chicago has experienced an explosion of new music activity in the past several years. World-class ensembles and composers have either relocated, or chosen to form here in the Windy City. Discover just how diverse and active the organizations establishing deep roots in Chicago’s new music scene are by visiting the New Music Chicago membership. This list represents just the tip of the iceberg of this city’s enthusiastic promoters, creators and performers of music for the next century.
After several years of receiving new pieces from composers from around the world, it is a pleasure to start working more closely with the composers in my own “back yard.” Recently, four Chicago area composers have written wonderful new compositions for me which feature the viola.
Seth Boustead: “Time Drips,” for viola and piano
Beth Bradfish: “Now, Then and Always,” for viola and piano
Eric Malmquist: Sonata for Viola and Piano
David Vayo: “Ink Dots,” trio for clarinet, viola and percussion
It is an honor to work with such sensitive, creative and enthusiastic individuals, who have committed their considerable talents towards the creation of new repertoire for future generations of viola players. Thank you to each of you!
Stay tuned for Fall performance dates of each world premiere!
