Mara’a “Moments” is a deeply personal work exploring a wide range of timbres and characters. It is an honor to have collaborated with Mara to bring her composition to life!

Here is Mara Gibson’s desciption of her composition:

“By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.” –Confucius

Moments is comprised of five methods. Methods I-III are accompanied by additional improvisations, which are more loosely notated creating eight movements in full.

Method I and Improvisation I (clarinet) represent reflection.

Method II, Improvisation II (viola); Method III, and Improvisation III (piano) represent imitation.

Method IV and Method V represent experience.
