Recording Jim Mobberley’s solo viola piece, “Subject To Change Without Notice.”

Large projects always begin with that first step. This week I’m heading to Kansas City to take the first step in what will be the initial installment for my CD recording featuring new works written for me.
Two years ago, composer Jim Mobberley wrote an incredibly virtuosic solo viola piece for me titled “Subject To Change Without Notice.” This electrically charged piece features extreme and abrupt personality changes which should, “Come off as the improvisation of a very talented but eccentric performer, perhaps leaving some question marks among the audience members as to the performer’s mental state.”
After performing Jim’s piece over twelve times in the last year-and-a-half I can assure you audience members come rushing up confirming the description. Jim Mobberley’s music is heavily influenced by both his passion to bring into classical music the energy and drive he hears in heavy metal music, as well as his omnipresent incredible sense of humor. If you are not familiar with Jim Mobberley’s music, I highly encourage you to listen to any one of his pieces on his SoundCloud account. Listen, then program his music – your audiences will love it!
More will be forthcoming as this larger project develops. In the meantime, I wish to convey an enormous “Thank You!” to Jim Mobberley for trusting me with his music.
